Context is as always key of course and people say lots of rude things in jest but I wouldn't advise any Americans reading to think that "slut" or "slag" are generally acceptable forms of greetings over here or anyone who comes over to the Hub from the US is certainly going to have an interesting time.
If I got greeted with "hello slut" or "hello slag" the person doing the greeting would be picking their teeth up of the floor.
