As per usual, personal thoughts are under the cut.

First and foremost, I hope this keeps the Sam!Girls happy for a while because that was the second sam-centric episode in a row. Oh, look! I'm counting screentime. :D

Moving on.

I was bored to tears with this episode; its only redeeming features were Jensen in those tight red shorts with those ridiculous socks, along with the remark he made to Sam about that football player (?) giving him the "full cowgirl." That was it. Everything else about this episode was painfully dull, right down to the performance turned in by 'teenage' Dean.

Kitsu's Final Grade: D

And that's all I've got to say about that. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm off to grab a beer and watch some more Queer As Folk. Peace out, bbs.

I agree... its not one of their shining moments. I think the guy they got to play Dean in the flashbacks really did a good job of looking like Jensen... but I think he was trying to hard to pull off the kind of personality that Dean has. It took a very complicated person and made him kind of one dimensional. This episode could have been a lot better. Oh well... can't win 'em all I guess. Although I also enjoyed Dean's line about this whistle... "The whistle makes me their god!" but the episode itself was a little disappointing.

Exactly. He looked and sounded like Dean, but he failed to successfully nail that which makes Dean Dean - his personality. Nothing against the guy, of course. I just don't think he played the part all that well.

The whistle line was indeed great, but as you said, the episode as a whole was disappointing.

I enjoyed it, but I can see where you are coming from.

For me, the good thing about this episode though, was the lack of Hell angst. For the past few episodes we've been bashed over the head about it and I'm enjoying the reprieve. Of course, I think the thing I am most eagerly awaiting for is our favorite angel to show up again...

It's the opposite for me. I thrive off of angst, darkness and heart-ache. Yes, I am a horrible person. xD

The same goes for me as well...

I agree. He looked the part but man.... He can't really act it. :\

Also, was it just me or did he have a bronx accent?

I do agree with whomever is above me about the lack of hell-angst. That was really really nice and kind of a redeeming attribute imho. xD

LOL. Apparently that doesn't matter when you're "pretty."

To tell you the brutally honest truth, I didn't really pay that much attention. This was one of the very few episodes of SPN that I actually zoned out during. =/

And here I was missing the Hell angst. I always enjoy it when the boys are being tormented...

Yes, I'm a masochist. Moving on. xP

Hee, I love to see the boys being torn apart, don't get me wrong. But ugh the sap. I just don't like the way those scenes were portrayed. Too much sad, too much regret, not enough anger.

Hmm... I didn't think it was THAT bad xD I probably would give it somewhere between a B and a C. Of course I'm fully willing to admit that the angst from teen!Dean, teen!Sam, and older Sam probably made it what it was for me. Oh, AND the shorts/knee socks combo... oh yes, I loves me the bowlegs :D

You're right though... teen!Dean's actor wasn't great with delivery, but he looked the part if you ask me. I think it's kind of like the new Ruby for me :P There's just something about them both that just doesn't click. I think Brock's problem was that in a lot of scenes he just... overacted. I'm not really sure how else someone could have played Dean though at that age... it's just an awkward age for him to be, lol. They should have gotten someone younger to play him though, but I can see why they kept him visually :P

Oh and the full cowgirl moment was priceless xD

Wow. You're a very generous person. xD

Now, I will admit that my heart did indeed go out to Sam during this episode. I think the main problem I had with it was the fact that - even if we did get some backstory - we still didn't learn anything we didn't already know.

We already know the boys had a hard time growing up; we already know Sam wanted a normal life; we already Sam isn't happy with life. The entire episode, to me, was nothing more than a waste of time which could've been spent developing the plot.

It uh..made me think way too much of my time in junior high. This is definitely not a good thing.

Though that ghostie blood stuff kept reminding me of the black oil from X-Files. That is definite love.

Same here. I hated high school...

I don't really know... I kind of liked it but I understand why you didn't.
Oh and I particularly love the teacher, he made me remember of one I had in middle school lol

I've got nothing against anyone who enjoyed it. No one shares the same exact tastes when it comes to things such as this.

OH! I loved this episode. XD <3 I wanted more at the end though. ;) And those Dean lines were awesome, definitely. ;)

I was fine with the way it ended because of the doubts Sam's expression caused to rise in people's minds.
