I may be the weird one in fandom, but I really, really hope they die. Blaze of glory. Dust in the Wind. I feel like a broken record I've said this so many times in the past, but I was actually cheering Dean on in that scene, and my friends were giving me evil, traitorous glares. A blaze of glory would indeed be a fitting end to the Winchester family saga. And I hope that they take out quite a few demonic sons-of-bitches with them. Oh, damn... That would be just simply epic.
I think what Sam is doing with Ruby could ultimately be what saves them, and that the angels aren't right. I think they just don't know what Sam is capable of (they don't know the YED's end game, either), so they'd rather take him out of the equation altogether. I think Ruby and Dean are on Team Sam, and that's the side that's gonna win this war. So I hope Castiel joins them. :D I don't fully trust Ruby yet, but I'm getting there. I'm also getting to the point where I like her quite a bit.
As for whether or not her grooming of Sam ultimately being that which will win this war, I'm not sure what I think about it. I also don't know if I agree with your opinions of the angels. Personally, I think everyone's side is right - including Ruby AND the angels. They're all out to win this war no matter what sacrifices must made to do so.
